1. Scan Target Timeout 2. Not Enough Memory 3. Missing Java Files 4. Inaccessible OVAL File 5. No ARF File

1. Scan Target Timeout

  • Error Message: "Scan Target Timeout"
  • Cause: This error occurs when target machines are either not checking in or are offline when the scan is initiated.
  • Suggested Actions:
    • Verify Machine Status: Ensure that the target machine is powered on and connected to the network to allow it to check in with the CYRISMA platform.
    • Increase Offline Delay: To mitigate this issue, increase the "Offline Delay" setting. We recommend extending the duration from 1 hour to 24 or 48 hours, allowing more time for the targets to check in and reducing the likelihood of timing out.

2. Not Enough Memory

  • Error Message: "Not Enough Memory"
  • Cause: This issue often arises because the scanning process requires Java, which needs at least 1024MB (1GB) of available memory on the agent host.
  • Suggested Action: Check the available memory on the machine and free up resources if necessary to meet the 1GB memory requirement for Java.

3. Missing Java Files

  • Error Message: "Missing Java Files"
  • Cause: This error indicates that the agent was unable to deploy the necessary CYRISMA Java files, often due to Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) software blocking the installation.
  • Suggested Action: Review your EDR settings and allow the agent to deploy files to C:\cyrisma_agent\app\jre. Whitelist the CYRISMA agent in your security settings if necessary.

4. Inaccessible OVAL File

  • Error Message: "Inaccessible OVAL File"
  • Cause: The system was unable to access the vulnerability database during the scan, preventing completion.
  • Suggested Actions:
    • Check Network Connectivity: Ensure stable and reliable network connectivity for the target machine, as it needs access to external vulnerability databases.
    • Verify Disk Space Availability: Confirm there is enough disk space to download required files. Insufficient disk space can interrupt the download process.

5. No ARF File

  • Error Message: "No ARF File"
  • Cause: This error occurs when the connection is lost during the scan due to timeout, network instability, or resource constraints on the agent host.
  • Suggested Actions:
    • Ensure Network Stability: Check for network stability on the agent host to maintain a continuous connection during the scan.
    • Resource Requirements: The scanning process requires Java, which needs at least 1024MB (1GB) of available memory. Verify that the agent host meets this memory requirement to prevent scan failures and ARF errors.

Following these troubleshooting steps should help address and resolve common scan target failures. If issues persist, please reach out to support for further assistance.
