Common Cause How to Resolve Missing Scheduled Scans Key Notes

Common Cause

Scheduled scans may disappear if the "Number of Scan Instances" setting is configured incorrectly. This parameter defines how many times the scan will execute, even for recurring scans. If set to 1, the scan will run once and not repeat, even if marked as recurring.

How to Resolve Missing Scheduled Scans

Identify Missing Scans

  • Confirm the name, type, and frequency of the missing scans.
  • Example:
    • Instance: ACG_Quarterly_External_Scan
    • Instance 2.0: NJFPL-Quarterly_External_Scan

Check Scan Configuration

  • Navigate to the Scheduled Scans section in Cyrisma.
  • Review the configuration of the affected scans.

Adjust the "Number of Scan Instances" Setting

  • Set the Number of Scan Instances to the desired frequency:
    • For quarterly scans, set this value to 4 to schedule scans for an entire year.
  • Ensure the recurrence type (e.g., quarterly, monthly) matches your requirements.

Reschedule the Scans

  • Recreate the scans as needed and apply the corrected settings.
  • Double-check the scan types (e.g., external or internal) and ensure the correct PSA (Professional Services Automation) is applied.

Key Notes

  • "Number of Scan Instances" Setting: This controls how many times a scan will execute, even for recurring schedules. If left at 1, the scan runs only once and then disappears.
  • Reconfiguring Scans: To avoid confusion, ensure this setting aligns with the desired scan frequency.
