Details:

Why Does the Patch Stay Pending?

  • CYRISMA relies on the agent installed on the workstation to execute patch installations. If the workstation is offline and not checking in with the CYRISMA backend, it cannot receive the instructions to apply the patch. As a result, the patch remains in a "pending" state.

Does the Pending Patch Expire?

  • No, the pending status does not expire or time out. It will remain as "pending" indefinitely until the workstation comes back online and checks in or the patch assignment is manually canceled.

How to Cancel a Pending Patch:

  • If you want to stop attempting to patch a device, you can manually delete the pending patch from the CYRISMA console. Once canceled, the patch will no longer attempt to execute even if the workstation comes back online.

Key Notes:

  • It’s important to ensure workstations are regularly online and checking in to execute assigned patches.
  • Manually canceling patches should only be done if you are certain that the patch is no longer needed or applicable.

FAQs:

Q: What happens if the workstation never comes online again?
A: The patch will remain in a "pending" state unless it is manually canceled.

Q: Can I see which patches are still pending for offline workstations?
A: Yes, the CYRISMA dashboard provides visibility into the patch status for all assigned devices, including those offline.

Q: Will the patch automatically retry once the workstation comes online?
A: Yes, once the workstation checks back into CYRISMA, the patch agent will recognize the pending patches and proceed to install them.
