How to Create an External IP Scan
1. Navigate to Vulnerability Scan:
- After signing in to your account, go to the Vulnerability Scan section.
- Click on Schedule a Scan to start the process of creating a new scan.

2. Configure the New Scan: In the Start New Scan form, fill in the following details:
Select a Scan Type:
- From the dropdown, choose External – IP Addresses.
Assign a Scan Name:
- In the field labeled "Scan name," input a descriptive name for the scan. This helps identify it later, such as "VS_EX_Customer1_Scan."
IP Addresses:
- Enter the external IP addresses that belong to the client.
- If you have a full IP range (e.g., /29), enter it directly.
- If you only know individual IPs, list them one by one, either on separate lines or separated by commas.
3. Set Notifications:
- In the Notify When Complete section, select either Yes to receive a notification when the scan finishes or No if you do not want to be notified.
4. Schedule the Scan:
- In the Schedule section, choose when the scan should run:
- Now: The scan will begin immediately after submission.
- One Time: The scan will run once at a later date and time you specify.
- Recurring: The scan will be scheduled to run at regular intervals that you set.
5. Submit the Scan:
- Once all fields are filled out, click the Schedule Scan button to finalize and start the scan.
- If needed, you can use the Reset button to clear the form and start over.

Notes:
The scan will remain pending until the external agent associated with the instance checks in. The external agent typically checks in every 5 minutes.
Once the agent checks in and the scan begins, the system will follow the schedule you set (either immediate, one-time, or recurring).
Ensure the IP addresses you enter are public and specific to the customer you are scanning.
Number of scan instances means “how many times you want to run the scan in a year”
