Vulnerability Lookup

The Vulnerability Lookup feature allows users to search for detailed information on specific CVEs (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures). This tool is essential for understanding potential security risks and finding guidance on mitigation. If the search criteria are too broad, the results will be limited to a maximum of 500 CVEs, so it is best to use specific CVE identifiers to refine your search.

Using Vulnerability Lookup

Performing a CVE Search:

Enter a specific CVE number into the search bar. This helps in narrowing down the results and focusing on the exact vulnerability you wish to investigate.

Click SEARCH to display detailed information about the specified vulnerability.

Understanding the Results:

  • The search results will display a brief overview of the vulnerability, including its description and potential impact.
  • Additionally, the severity rating of the vulnerability is shown using standardized rating systems, with scores ranging from 0 to 10. A score of 10 signifies a critical vulnerability that requires immediate attention.

Drilling Down for More Details:

  • Click on the row of a specific CVE in the results to expand and view additional information. This expanded view provides an in-depth look at the vulnerability, including:
    •  Description: Explains the vulnerability’s characteristics and potential security impact.
    • Severity Scores: May include various industry-standard scoring systems, highlighting the severity level based on metrics like exploitability and impact.
    • Mitigation Options: Links to how to mitigate and where we found it:

Additional Resources:

  • For further details and potential mitigation strategies, click on the URL link provided within the detailed view. This link redirects to external resources that offer in-depth analysis, remediation steps, and security patches (if available).

The Vulnerability Lookup tool is essential for security teams to gain quick access to CVE details, assess risks based on severity ratings, and take informed actions to safeguard systems against identified vulnerabilities.
