Live Data Scan Display and Filtering Actions Available for Active Scans Viewing Scan Details Details in the Expanded View Refreshing Live Data

Live Data Scan Display and Filtering

For any scan that is currently running, the system displays it within a data scan table. The table provides essential information such as:

  • Scan Name – The name assigned to the scan for easy identification.
  • Targets – Number of targets being scanned.
  • Data Type – Indicates the scan type (e.g., Local / CIFS-SMB).
  • Locations – Number of data locations scanned.
  • To be Scanned – Files remaining to be scanned (currently shown as "Calculating" during active scans).
  • Sensitive Items – Number of sensitive items identified so far.
  • Progress – Displays the percentage of the scan completed in real-time.
  • Elapsed Time – Shows the duration since the scan started.
  • Action – Options to pause or delete the scan.

Filtering and Searching:

  • Show More Results – Adjust the number of displayed results by selecting a higher value from the drop-down menu.
  • Search – Use the search box to quickly locate a specific scan by name.

Actions Available for Active Scans

Within the Action column, administrators can:

  • Pause a Scan – Temporarily halt the scan. This is useful for performing system maintenance tasks on targets that are currently undergoing scans. Once maintenance is complete, the scan can be resumed.
  • Cancel a Scan – Cancel an ongoing scan if it is no longer needed or if it conflicts with other tasks.

Viewing Scan Details

Clicking on an individual scan row expands it to display a Data Scan Summary. The summary view includes live updates, so some data counts and findings may appear incomplete as new data is processed. The summary provides:

  • Data Split – Quick visual snapshot of the current percentage breakdown of sensitive vs. non-sensitive data.
  • Breakdown of Sensitive Data Found – Graphical chart showing sensitive data categories identified so far. This chart updates periodically as new sensitive items are found and categorized.

Details in the Expanded View

In the expanded view, the following information is shown:

Data Summary – Displays:

  • Number of Files Scanned – Total files scanned so far.
  • Number of Bytes Scanned – Data volume scanned.
  • Scan Risk Grade – Preliminary risk grade based on the sensitivity of data found.
  • Categories Searched – Lists the sensitive data categories included in the scan, such as Bank Accounts, Passwords, etc.

Breakdown of Sensitive Data Categories – This section displays a bar chart, which categorizes the sensitive data found so far (e.g., Bank Accounts, Social Security Numbers). Administrators can click on individual categories in this chart to drill down further and view details, such as:

  • Item Names – Specific files or records discovered within each category.
  • Location – File paths and the targets where sensitive data was located.

Refreshing Live Data

The live view of scans in progress will auto-refresh periodically. However, users also have the option to manually refresh the data by clicking the Refresh button, ensuring they are viewing the most recent scan progress.
